A Loudoun County jury on Thursday found 58-year-old Timothy W. Warnick guilty of first-degree murder and robbery in a 30-year-old murder case, according to the Office of the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney.

It's not clear how Phase 2 of Metro's $2.7 billion extension of the Silver Line in Northern Virginia will meet its 2020 opening deadline now that cracks have appeared in hundreds of concrete panels that serve as walls for subway stations. A subcontractor, Universal Concrete Products, used the wrong cement mix for 1,750 concrete panels installed at Metro stops at the Reston Town Center, Herndon, the Innovation Center, Loudoun Gateway and Ashburn, Charles Stark, manager of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, said Wednesday.

Washington, D.C.'s overdue, overbudget Silver Line Metro route extension has hit another snag: Some 1,700 concrete panels laid on the $2.8 billion project are defective. According to WRC-TV, the local NBC affiliate that broke the story yesterday, issues with the concrete include an unbalanced mix of cement and water, too little concrete covering steel inside the panels, and "insufficient safeguards for water to expand and contract," all of which could lead to cracking.

A self-described white nationalist who was arrested in the lead-up to last summer's Unite the Right march in Charlottesville has been arrested for public swearing and intoxication in Leesburg. Christopher Cantwell was arrested on March 31, according to Leesburg police spokesman Sam Shenouda, who said an officer observed Cantwell stumbling while trying to cross the street in the 500 block of East Market Street.
