Marvin Otero, a 44-year-old Sterling resident, was sentenced to 20 years for one count of rape by Loudoun County Circuit Judge Gaylord L. Finch Jr. Wednesday, according to the Loudoun County Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney.

A Virginia county prosecutor has recused himself from actress Rose McGowan's upcoming trial for felony possession of a controlled substance, citing conflict of interest. Prince William County Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert tells WTOP-FM that Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney Jim Plowman asked him to take over the case, as McGowan's attorney represents him in a federal civil rights case.

Authorities in Virginia say an employee at a behavioral healthcare center has been charged in connection with the death of a teenager who was a patient at the facility. A Loudoun County Sheriff's Office news release says 47-year-old William P. Herndon, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was indicted on Jan.11 on charges of involuntary manslaughter in the death of the 15-year-old.
