Bills to start rookie QB Josh Allen against ChargersSeptember 12, 2018 3:37pm

Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 draft, will make his first NFL regular-season start Sunday against the Chargers, coach Sean McDermott confirmed Wednesday morning.

"I have confidence in Josh, and it’s the right move for our football team,” McDermott told reporters.

Allen came on for starter Nathan Peterman in a Week 1 blowout loss to the Ravens and completed 6 of 15 passes for 74 yards and was sacked three times.

Peterman was 5 of 18 for 24 yards with two interceptions (passer rating: 0.0) against the Ravens before being pulled in the eventual 47-3 loss.

The Bills-Chargers game is set for 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Buffalo.
