Oct. 30--A Fort Riley soldier was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Boynton was deceased in his on-post residence when special agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command discovered him Wednesday at 5:50 p.m.
Foul play is not suspected at this time. But agents have not ruled it out as they continue conducting a complete and thorough investigation.
No other individuals were injured and no additional information will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Boynton, a native of Ware, Mass., joined the Army in July 2003. He came to Fort Riley in April and was a specialist in the 84th Explosive Ordinance Disposal, an 89D, 1st Armored Brigade Combat team and the 1st Infantry Division.
He was deployed once to Afghanistan and served twice in Iraq.
